Zugzwang

Stuck in time on a black square
Blinded always by your eyes glare
Empty souls, about to die
Full of traps, was all a lie.

Look around, take all your time
Clock is ticking, a life’s crime
Choose your move, reveal no mercy
Watch my chest, so cold and pursy.

White long fingers, choose your move
Crush the hope, nothing to prove
Make your choice, but think this deep
Bring the peace to those can’t sleep.

Can’t go left, nor right, you know
Knees are bleeding, endless bow
Eyes are frozen, black or white
Choose your move, before the night.

Zugzwang
German for compulsion to move, is a situation found in chess and other games wherein one player is put at a disadvantage because they must make a move when they would prefer to pass and not move. The fact that the player is compelled to move means that their position will become significantly weaker. A player is said to be in zugzwang when any possible move will worsen their position.
